Pittsburgh Retail Giant ECHO Sells for $2B

What Happened in the ECHO Realty Sale? A TPG-led investor group struck a deal to acquire ECHO Realty in a transaction valued at about $2 billion. The deal marked a major change in control for the Pittsburgh-based retail real estate platform. The transaction covered the company as a full-service owner and operator, not a single asset sale. ECHO’s portfolio included about 230 grocery-anchored shopping centers across the Midwest and Southeast. The buyer group included PSP Investments, La Caisse and Norges Bank Investment Management as part of a cross-border capital partnership.
